WHAT IS YOGATEAU: DO YOGA IN PARIS?
Yogateau: Do Yoga in Paris is a publication and community for people who view yoga as a practice and an art of living, something the French know a little something about.
Highlights:
Yoga and meditation events and retreats, focusing on inspiring people and places in Paris and beyond
A contemporary approach to ancient teachings that emphasizes knowledge, curiosity and dare we say it, pleasure, over self-abnegation
We don’t take sides in the yoga authenticity debate. We prefer to underline yoga’s modernity and usefulness by showing how #parisyogalife is accessible to anyone, at any time, regardless of tradition or location.
WHY SHOULD YOU LISTEN TO ME?
I’m Martine Trélaün, an art director, graphic/visual designer, and yoga teacher based in Paris, France.
My design portfolio is here if you’d like to take a look but chances are you’re more interested in my yoga bonafides so here they are:
I’ve been doing yoga regularly for over 20 years
I’ve tried everything: Hatha, Bikram (don’t @ me, it was the 90s!), Ashtanga, Yin, Restorative, Vinyasa in all of its guises, Jivamukti, Kundalini, Iyengar, Forrest…
I’ve studied meditation with Sally Kempton, Harshada Wagner and was initiated into Vedic Meditation by Nicho Plowman in 2016
I am a certified teacher (200-hr and 100-hr in Anusara Yoga) who has taught asana and philosophy in studios in NYC and Paris
As far as Paris goes, I have known the city like the back of my hand since I was a 16 year old lycéenne, running from my school in the 17e to ballet classes to double features in the quartier latin.
WHY SUBSCRIBE?
I publish Yogateau: Do Yoga in Paris monthly with supplemental dispatches sent regularly. This newsletter is inspired by my own experiences trying to navigate the yoga landscape in Paris, as well as the website, Yogateau, that I launched in 2011.
Do Yoga in Paris brings you a curated selection of workshops and events to help you plan your practice. Additional content features book reviews, recipes, teacher interviews, studio and retreat venue tours which shine a light on why doing yoga in Paris and France is unique and beautiful.
I dig into meditation, Ayurveda, philosophy, art and culture and other yoga-adjacent things not often broached in a 60-minute class for a more well-rounded perspective on how to integrate yoga’s ancient practices into a busy, active modern life.
