Summer Yoga in Paris
Yoga art and design, ice cream pop-ups, yoga studios staying open and upcoming workshops to prime your body for max holiday relaxation
It used to be that France was divided between Juillettistes and Aoûtiens — those who take their summer holidays in July (juillet) versus those who skip town in August (août) — but it’s feeling like that distinction is getting fuzzier and that Paris is empty the second the last school bell rings.
The exodus of Parisians is already underway: the streets seem quieter, the métros at rush hour less packed, the vibe less tense (anxiety over elections notwithstanding.) This will continue through the third week of August by which time Parisians will have returned, sinewy from Adriatic swims, bronzed1 like Greek gods, teeth white as Chiclets.
All of that to say that if you’re in Paris and noticing that there isn’t much in the way of yoga at local studios, it’s because NEARLY EVERYONE is stopping work to enjoy some downtime.
For those staying in town, here are some Parisian summertime treats to look forward to:
A pop-up sale in the Marais with Salt & Cedar Letterpress and a selection of art prints designed by me! Still working out the details. Days, address, times will be communicated in the next few days 🗓️
CaroDiario’s ephemeral gelato stand. This year it’s planted at the Maison Européenne de la Photographie. Until July 14th.
A very on-brand, cheeky Oatly soft-serve pop-up near the Carreau du Temple. Until August 4th.
Messy Nessy’s newly opened Cabinet of Curiosities in the 5e.
Le Peloton Café’s homage to the Tour de France: a custom coffee blend crafted by the roasters at Plural Café.
By the way: these Parisian studios are open all summer long

Did we mention our summer pop-up? 😉
Despite dermatological warnings and advances in sunscreen formulations (much of them powered by European scientific research), the French are still really, really into tanning. So much so that there are supplements you can take to pre-game your base tan, and tons of creams, lotions and gels to ensure your tan lasts and lasts. Because nothing says “my vacation was way better than yours” than a deep, golden sheen in September.
