October Downshift in Paris: Week 2
Baby your digestion, revive your sluggish lymph, unroll your yoga mat and fill your eyes and heart with art
Welcome to the second installment in a 3-week series designed to help you establish an autumn routine that makes the shorter days something to look forward to, not something to dread 👻 After all, le bonheur est maintenant.
If you missed the first installment which included Ayurvedic tips, cozy recipes and body oil recommendations, go here:
To everything, there is a season (turn, turn, turn)
Autumn is the period of the year when Nature starts folding in on herself, turning her gaze inward and delicately spiraling into velvet hibernation. While we can’t be like bears and check out for a few months, we can take a page from yoga and Ayurveda (and Traditional Chinese medicine, by the way) and begin gradually decelerating from a sprint to a stroll to better savour the shorter days. Or maybe we can be a little bit like bears… (self ) Care Bears 🌈🐻
In October:
Take care of your digestive tract with a simple abdominal massage or even better, book a stomach massage with expert Caroline Jude in the 11e arrondissement. DM her or ask us for her digits.
Stimulate your lymphatic system with exercise and careful application of pressure to key points on the body (neck, armpit, groin). Face Yoga and Kobido massages are excellent for this as well: take an online class with Sharon, or book an IRL session with Amélie.
Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) is real so if you’re feeling blue, try a bit of light therapy which is one of the most powerful treatments to lessen its impact.
Lean into the season with yoga workshops designed to give you great tools for thriving—not just surviving—this autumn (see below)
If you’re in Paris, take yourself on a date to Thaddaeus Ropac for Irving Penn: The Bath or head over to the musée Rodin for Antony Gormley: Critical Mass.
Treat your whole self: body, mind, heart and everything in between. Those networks need care and regular maintenance, too.
