Welcome to Do Yoga in Paris
A newsletter featuring creative yoga and meditation ideas—traditional & unconventional—to help you find your Om Away from Home
Do Yoga in Paris used to be known as Yogateau and was for 10 years a fully-tricked out website with an up-to-the-minute calendar of Paris yoga and meditation workshops, events, trainings and retreats, and a constantly updated map and list of studios that you could search and filter by style and/or arrondissement.
The workload nearly killed me so now it’s a newsletter.
Why a newsletter? Why now?
It’s a bit of a full circle moment: Before the website, I sent everything out via email. So this is—in a way—a return to our roots. Without going into a long explanation (which is posted here, if you have that kind of time) the reasons for this switch are manifold:
The website and its features became nearly impossible to maintain on my own
I had to rely on outside revenue to finance the site, something which resulted in partnerships which weren’t 100% aligned with our core values
As our online audience migrated to Instagram, I increased our efforts on social channels but any attempts to “game” the algorithm and ranking system were met with anemic engagement and posts were buried under an avalanche of ads and thirst-trap content
By returning to a newsletter format, I am doubling-down on Do Yoga in Paris’ mission which is to share what makes creative mind-body practices in Paris and the rest of Europe unique: not just lovely teachers and spaces in which to unroll your mat, but a point of view that includes pleasure, beauty and diverse expression.
Part of what’s missing from web platforms and social media channels is community.
Being able to gather in one place, be near one another, to chat or ask questions is how yoga developed. Upanishad in Sanskrit means “sitting down near”, a reference to the way students used to sit near their teachers in order to learn.
This iteration of Do Yoga in Paris is designed to be Upanishad-ish: a place of learning and dialogue so we can continue growing together.

The newsletter in its form and content offers an untraditional (depends on your tradition, I guess!) perspective on what it means to be a modern yogi in this rapidly changing world.
We’ll touch on subjects not often broached in a 60- or 90-mn class as well as provide details on where to have a massage, get the best coffee, or find chic meditation eye pillows. As a Paris insider, I’ve spent years gathering intel on what’s happening and my every-evolving wellness network includes teachers, studio owners, artists, designers and other movers and shakers.
