Sound Bath Reverberations to Carry You into Summer
3 Paris events to raise your vibration plus 1 affordable yoga tip to bring it down to earth
There is a reason why sound baths are popular: it is the laziest, easiest form of meditation you can do. You lie down, close your eyes, and allow waves of sound to wash over and through you. There are no words, no mantras. There is nothing to do but let sound vibrations criss-cross your body and mind.
A sound bath is an opportunity to plunge into a deep state of consciousness—the kind traditionally accessed through meditation—to wordlessly loosen your mind’s grip on your entire being in order to summon a greater state of rest. It is profoundly restorative and can bring about new insights, compassion and understanding for yourself and for others. And unlike meditation which requires time and practice, the effects of a sound bath are often immediate: calm, peace, repose.
While a sound bath is profoundly healing and regenerating, that doesn’t mean that all the sounds you hear/experience will be pleasant. Not everyone responds the same way to changes in frequency, rhythm, pitch or tone so don’t be surprised if a certain instrument or sequence of sounds unsettles you. A sound bath can jostle as much as it can de-stress and in the right hands, the contrast between euphonious and cacophonous creates therapeutic balance.
Sound Bath
with Swann Texier + Variéras at Mirz Yoga (Les Lilas)
This will be no ordinary sound bath: Swann and Variéras bring their backgrounds in classical, contemporary and electronic music to the experience, enhancing the voyage with synthesizers and acoustic instruments. Let yourself be traversed, held and healed by successive waves of energy.
While Mirz Yoga is no longer a brick-and-mortar studio, its founder Marine Parmentier has found creative ways to invest the Mirz point-of-view into new spaces. This sound bath will take place at 36 avenue du Maréchal Juin in Les Lilas, just a short hop on Ligne 11 (M° Mairie des Lilas is the stop.)

AND SPEAKING OF QEE…
For the last few years, Qee has partnered with the Fondation Good Planet to offer affordable Hatha yoga classes (12€) at the Domaine de Longchamp in the bois de Boulogne.
Held on Sundays from 11h15 to 12h15, sessions are all levels with an emphasis on breathing rather than on doing crazy poses. A large portion of the proceeds from these classes is donated to Good Planet to help fund their ecology projects so it’s win-win.
