Paris Yoga Menu: July 2025 Edition
Breathing through the heatwave, swimming in the Seine, FREE yoga and my favorite ice cream
Paris is so hot right now.
And the only thing to do is loll around in boxers with the shades pulled down and the fan twirling on high. If the idea of doing anything other than lying still while eating ice cubes fills you with anxiety, try some cooling rounds of Pranayama:
Sitali and Sitkari Pranayama are well known for their relaxing properties, while Nadi Shodhana and Sama Vritti can be useful for procuring a deep sense of chilled out tranquility.
The other advice I have for doing yoga when it’s two degrees hotter than the surface of the sun is:
Drink lots of water
Take breaks in child’s pose
Use props to decelerate your effort
Move slowly
There’s no point in raging against the heat. Submit to it and find a way to use it to your advantage.

One of Dr. Andrew Huberman’s NSDR’s (Non-Sleep Deep Rest) techniques is Yoga Nidra; the perfect scent for your at-home yoga space now on sale; 20€ drop-in yoga classes on Thursday nights in the Marais; Breathwork for babies and older kids, too (gift link); Yoga with Adriene’s new pad in Austin is as dull as her teaching 🙊; and Baba Yoga Social Club’s new location in Sentier:

There is a lot of very good ice cream in Paris right now, but the shop I look most forward to — because it only pops up in the summer — is Caro Diario’s. This year Zélikha Dinga has a charming booth set up in the couryard of the musée de la Chasse et de la Nature and I cannot wait: last year’s sultry cassis was a mood.
You can swim in the Seine?? Have you done it? It's an intriguing idea, but because I watch a lot of murder mysteries, I'd be worried about swimming in river full of evidence. Hope you're eating lots of ice cream.
