A bit of a grab bag this morning, but maybe that’s where we are in this third week of January?
Many Paris yoga studios are offering Yin workshops right now, and it’s exactly the practice we need: slow; deliberate; thoughtful; movements matched to unhurried, non-Ujjayi breath. Bernie Clark, author of The Complete Guide to Yin Yoga: The Philosophy and Practice of Yin Yoga, has said that the “essence of yin is yielding.”
Bernie Clark goes on to say:
“Yang is about changing the world; yin accepts the world as it is. Neither is better than the other. There are indeed times when it is appropriate and even necessary to change the world; other times, it is best to just allow things to unfold. Part of the yin practice is learning this yielding.”
Accept the world as it is. For Do Yoga in Paris today, that means giving in to the hodgepodge-ness of January and allowing this newsletter to unfold as it’s meant to. In other words: short and sweet 🍬
