Arts Festival Recs for Creative Yogis
Going to Arles or Avignon this Summer? Don’t forget to pack your leggings.
There are two big arts festivals already underway in France: les Rencontres d’Arles (July 1st through September 29th) and le Festival d’Avignon (June 29th through July 21st). We know many of you will be making the pilgrimage south for these events, so we thought we’d help yoga-fy your visits.
Looking at art is a contemplative act that enriches the soul but can occasionally exhaust the body of even the most enthusiastic human. Tired eyes, a sore low back, achy feet and a stiff neck can all be remedied with a little judicious stretching or, if you have the time, an actual yoga class.

IYENGAR YOGA AT YOGA SHALA ARLES
Yoga Shala Arles’ schedule emphasizes healthy postural alignment through daily Iyengar, Viniyoga and Yoga Therapy classes, as well as workshops such as Yoga Lab which is an occasion to examine and pick apart specific poses and their benefits.
VINYASA, PILATES & OTHER PRACTICES AT ARLES YOGA
Ever-evolving, Arles Yoga offers classes from a team of local teachers who will not only guide you through nicely paced sequences, but also provide lots of great insider information 🤓
Bonus intel: in Arles, be sure to poke around Librairie Actes Sud and Galerie Anne Clergue, browse the homewares at Moustique then enjoy a lovely meal at an outdoor table at Chardon (reservations recommended.)

LE STUDIO DU NID
We mentioned Le Nid in one of our pre-solstice round-ups because it’s not just a yoga studio: it’s also a concept store and a café/restaurant. The class schedule has a little something for everyone from Hatha to Ashtanga to Pilates and small group training.
Bonus intel: In Avignon, two coffee shops stand out—Tulipe (part of Le Nid), and Café Roma.— so go there for a macchiato and a treat. You may not be able to fit a vintage credenza in your suitcase but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t drop by Galerie 567 to drool over modernist furniture and accessories.
